New outdoor fitness bootcamps can help you to a trimmer, fitter and more toned body
Two new outdoor bootcamps at East Molesey and Effingham are ready to take women on a fitness adventure which will help them to lose fat, shape and tone up and increase their fitness in just four weeks.
The Adventure Bootcamp phenomenon was brought to the UK by former international athlete and one of the original TV Gladiators, Kate Staples.
Hundreds of women have benefited from bootcamp’s unique combination of strength, stamina, toning and flexibility training, nutritional advice and motivation.
“Come to boot camp for just one hour a day, for five days a week and you’ll start to see the difference long before the four weeks are over,” says Kate. “This is the perfect time of year to start exercising outdoors and by the end of the four weeks you will see a 3-5% reduction in body fat, a 1-3in reduction around your middle, 25% increase in strength and endurance and you could lose between five and 12lb in weight. You don’t need complicated or expensive equipment, just an exercise mat, a set of dumbbells, a pair of running shoes and a sense of adventure.”
The first camp was started at Cobham in Surrey, where Kate puts women through their paces and she has gathered a glittering team of former Olympic athletes to join the bootcamp phenomenon. Double Olympic decathlon champion Daley Thompson is a director and camps at Guildford and Wimbledon are run by former Olympic pole vaulter and TV Superstars champion Brian Hooper and Olympic judo silver medallist Ray Stevens.
The new camps start on April 28 at Effingham Rugby Club and May 12 at East Molesey Cricket Club.
The instructor at the Effingham camp is Welsh judo champion Karine Millington, who has 20 years experience as a fitness instructor. She was a member of the British Judo Squad before a back injury forced her to retire from competition.
Karine has taught in health clubs and sports centres and has helped celebrities including Jason Donovan, Imelda Staunton, Mike Rutherford, Rik Mayall, David Gilmour and Roger Taylor get in shape. She is the founder and director of the 1-to-6 Gym Club and also teaches after school gymnastics.
East Molesey instructor Rob Anderson brings a wealth of fitness and personal training experience to bootcamp. His first passion, during his childhood in Australia, was football and he had teenage trials for top UK clubs. Then he decided to make the UK his home and make health and fitness his career.
After a spell at David Lloyd Leisure he established his own successful personal training business in Cobham and he continues to explore new ideas and techniques to make training more effective and enjoyable. This year he begins a Strength and Conditioning Science degree with the aim of becoming the strength and conditioning coach for a Premiership Football Club. This adds to his already impressive qualifications as a fitness coach, personal trainer, circuits instructor and advanced performance enhancement specialist.
Kate Staples says: “I am so excited to see new Adventure bootcamps opening – and we have several more planned in the coming months. Bootcamp is all about fun and challenge. Everyone is welcome, no matter what their size or fitness level as long as they are determined to do their best.
“Best of all, it’s very affordable. Where else could you train with a top personal trainer, elite athlete or former Olympian for £200 for 20 sessions?”
